Using nature and the outdoors our Holistic Recovery Programme offers support as children start to emerge out of one environment and make the transition towards a different one.

who is it for?

It is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 10 (children will be grouped by age or individual needs).

who will benefit?

Any child who is likely to require additional support in emerging out of lock down and starting back into a school environment.

Home schooled Children.

Families who want to support their children to process the emotions that will arise following lock down.

duration

- 6 sessions 1/2 day per session. Max group size 3:1.

key content

  • Activities to support transition and new beginnings.

  • Starting to re-establish routine and structure

  • Processing the BIG life changes that have been experienced

  • Safe spaces to talk - loss, bereavement, abuse, anxiety.

  • Building resilience - good habits to support this Sensory development - social distancing, people and personal space and the impact of this.

  • Relationships - forming, changing, valuing in relation to friends, siblings, teachers etc and rebuilding these. E.G. Separation anxiety from primary carer

  • Valuing what we have learned instead of what we have missed

  • Finding and creating safe spaces

  • Strategies to help to reduce or distance worries

  • Calming activities and strategies that can be carried out anywhere

  • Improved resilience and preparation for life long learning

  • Increase in Confidence and Self Esteem

  • Sensory awareness of social distancing and how to do this

  • Understanding and acceptance of the reasons why things may be different and seem unfamiliar

  • The 4 R’s : Reflect, Reason, Relate and Regulate Overcoming emotions to ease the change and nurture recovery.

  • Strategies to support self worth in a social context

  • Bridging the gap of difficult emotions and unfamiliar experiences
